One common problem that my clients struggle with is standing out among the crowd.
 
What do I tell them?

You don't need to reinvent the wheel when you're starting your business. There are plenty of people who offer the same service as you, and chances are, someone has figured out to package it in a way that made their business ultra-successful. So follow their example!

After all, there's nothing wrong with modeling your business after the success stories in your field. In fact, I'll let you in on a little secret: That's how every single successful business in the world operates.

 

 
And while standing out among the crowd is very important, you can successfully build your business based on others' ideas without ripping anyone off. Make sure that your integrity is always a factor in every business decision you make, while letting the success of others inspire you! Here's a few tips to help you get started!

1. Do your research! Start taking note of what's working for others in your field. What are the trends, talking points, and types of marketing you're seeing for the most successful people in your industry? Do you know who the influencers are? If not, do your homework and find out right away.

2. Be in the room with the smart people! Joining masterminds that put you in the room with people who have already found their footing will inspire you and give you a peek behind the curtain at how others are building their businesses. You very well might hear of ways to grow your business that you had never thought of before!

3. Get a mentor! You already know you can't do it alone, so find a mentor to help! Having a mentor or coach (at any level of business) gives you the tools to keep moving towards new heights. Pairing up with someone who is helping you professionally connects you to success, faster.

Chances are, you wouldn't have decided to start your own business without the inspiration of successful entrepreneurs. That's perfectly fine, but don't be a leech by stealing others' ideas and concepts. Be creative and fit your original ideas into existing models! Bring your authentic self into your business and make sure you're following strategies from successful people in your field so you can get off the hamster wheel and start driving forward!
